Who We Are For Each Other
She woke up this morning to no one there.
Looked around the empty house.
Put on her school clothes, no breakfast and left.
Walked alone the usual way.
Doors opening on the yellow bus.
Stepped up the big stairs into the eyes and smile
Of the Good Morning greeting from the bus driver.
Who we are for each other is beyond knowing.
Beyond measure of impact.
Beyond time as to how long it will last
or how it will make a difference.
You are that difference big and small
But not if you do not meet and greet openly
everyone one whose eyes you meet.
You glanced and connected for a reason
beyond any knowing here on earth.
You influenced a life, a destiny unfolding.
A direction of a journey that you are now a part of.
You can never know the lonely pain and suffering
of another human being when you meet them.
Love them momentarily with your eyes and smile
Having great faith that there is an eternal effect.
That is the power of you to impact a life beyond your own.
That is who we are for each other.
